    1. We are having almost summer for some weeks now. People are outside like they have been jailed in a very very dark dungeon for months: fishing, hiking, walking, biking, having barbecue … I tried to catch this early summer feeling last weekend.
And no, I didn’t crawl on the ground like some paparazzo (paparazza?) – I was on the other side of a flood dike.

      1. I envy you “almost summer” weather. This afternoon it is warm, low 50s, and sunny, so there is hope. But so far nothing looks green. No green grass, no leaves out yet, no spring flowers pushing up through the garden soil. I can only tell it isn’t winter by noting the lack of snow and ice.

I believe it is paparazzi, but what do I know? You are the one with language skills.

Since this photo was taken from the other side of a flood dike, it is a good thing neither you nor your subject was standing in water.

        1. Sounds like what we experienced last year.

We didn’t have any snow to speak of this winter. No frost to speak of. Usually I have to take the potted oleanders inside in December … nothing. They have been outside the whole time.

Is this usual for SD, not having any signs of spring even in April?

Paparazzi is the plural, paparazzo singular and I guessed it might be the masculine form – so I made up paparazza … no idea if this is right … but seems plausible.

  1. Kurt Vonnegut once said that he believed that “a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit”.

I definitely get that feeling from this photo.

    More than a little bit.

I like the out-of-focus band at the bottom. It wouldn’t be as interesting if everything were in focus. Maybe that’s true of being alive, too – if we could see everything clearly, all the time….it might get a little…..boring :-)

    1. I really should read Vonnegut. Never did. This quote is just … it. Says it all.

      Thank you.

Yes, the blurry dike in the foreground was necessary. I could have lived with some less trees and bushes, though, ;-)
