I thought the colouring is the same everywhere in the world. Would make sense, yes? And then I found out about the regions A and B of the IALA system, two seconds ago …
I did not know about region A and B where the colors are reversed. I remember which color goes where using the phrase, “Red right returning.” But I see this only works in region A. Should I ever find myself sailing in European waters, I’ll have to keep this in mind.
Lovely reflections in the water. Markers like this are suppose to be easily read and known. If they aren’t, it could be disaster.
One of the photos where I clearly should have chosen the coloured version. Sigh.
