  1. Nice.

    The photo and the quote.

He (the statue) seems a giant figure from a previous period, towering over a modern landscape that he dwarfs. Modern men and women aren’t up to his standards….so he laughs soundlessly and it’s hidden in his beard.

Then, possibly, when night falls and those small insignificant almost gnat-like humans turn out there lights and go to sleep – maybe he steps down from his pedestal and prowls the streets – in search of others of his kind who, also, have temporarily absented themselves from their pedestals.

But if a car interrupts them – “the swiftly approaching lights” – they can always freeze, statue-like, until it passes – and then laugh, not soundlessly, but deep in their metal throats. :-)

    1. This is Adam Opel, founder of the automobile company. So – your story is brilliant. Fits perfectly, it’s more or less what I imagined, especially the part with the car lights at night ;)
