Cool! These fat tire bikes were first designed and built by Surly Bikes in Minneapolis, MN where winters are long and cold. The wide tires allow the bike to float over snow and sand unlike other bikes that just sink in. A good friend of mine was a bike designer for them. Don’t know if he was responsible for fat tires bikes or not. Now many bike brands make these.
Since The Netherlands are mostly beaches (not really but it feels like it) it’s convenient. I only saw this one and in general you rarely see them at all – I think it’s the second or third time I ever saw one.

These bikes are all over our beaches here in Florida. People love being able to ride when the sand is softer than normal.
