    1. What you learn when you blog … I have never heard of a Lucus, prince of darkness, but of course google knew I meant Lucas, the prince of darkness and now I know everything about Joseph Lucas … :-)
About these two guys: I was wondering if the beer would be going to help them with their task …

      1. Lucus electrics were used in British cars and motorcycles. They had a reputation for quitting at just the wrong time. We have an old British car, and some of that reputation is deserved, but is not all bad. The car is still running after all these years.

        1. You have an old British car? How nice.
But really, even if Lucus sounds much better I admit, shouldn’t it be Lucas with an “a”?
From what I read in the wikipedia article, the aforementioned car is by any chance an Austin?

          1. Yes, it is Lucas with an “a.” Spelling was never my strong suit. Our British car is a 1956 MGA roadster. In the mid 1950s MG was the most popular foreign car imported into the U.S. That’s hard to imagine today with all the European, Japanese, and other cars imported here now. In fact, no cars are one hundred percent American any more.

          2. What a nice model.

Yep, the other way round there is not much to see on our roads. I am talking models, not manufactures (Opel being GM for example)

US cars (i.e. models) are simply too huge, I guess. Not enough room for them on European streets ;-)

          3. I’ve never understood the American desire for huge cars. Always liked small ones myself like Porsches, Ferraris, and Lotuses, but the most popular models in the U.S. are giant SUVs. I once rented a 4 door Citrone in Ireland and it was too big for the roads. Managed to drive it for a month and return it without a scratch which was a matter of pure good luck.

          4. Small cars like Porsches and Ferraris.

            AHA.
            ;-)

But yes, SUVs are the big thing here, too. And it makes even less sense. It’s like the evolution of technology being shown ad absurdum: where some years ago the primary goal was to develop small and/or aerodynamic cars now people are buying SUVs like there is no end. I really don’t understand it. Must be a very good marketing.
