I was as happy in that moment as I had ever been.
We all mature in our own way and at different rates.
And once again, this got me to thinking.
We smile at each other.

They shared food, books, stories, jokes.
The smaller birds were chattering, as if they had dreams they were eager to share.
It wasn’t a big deal.

I couldn’t picture any part of it at all.
He stood there a minute longer.
