My first mistake was waiting for a lift
I took them along a bumpy track
If you surrendered to the air, you could ride it
You think I don’t know how to walk when I want to walk?
At home, the man sits with his eyes glued to the front door
Dead of winter, icy roads, wind blowing sideways across the empty cornfields
He relaxed, smiling as he looked out the window
And Now for Something Completely Different
It was as if I wasn’t there. In fact often I wasn’t
Somehow the moment never seemed right to ask
Tell me this is just a bad, bad dream
And say which grain will grow and which will not
It was the rattling that woke her
He crossed the polished floor of the hall
It was almost as if the child was waiting for something to happen
He wondered how long ago this had happened
She was ready to leave once more
He was always sure that his mother was alive
The sight of such devotion acted as a reminder
The koala looked up, understandingly, into its companion’s eyes
