“Don’t be afraid” – Under the Sign of the Moon by Tessa Hadley

The last words of the Irish poet and playwright, Seamus Heaney, just before he died last year, were, “Don’t be afraid”.
But if I were a very small person, maybe around the size of a leprechaun, and I were trying to balance on top of that hanging piece of wood and not fall into the water – I might be afraid.
I always thought “Don’t be afraid” is a good motto for life.
Sometimes it doesn’t work. But it helps to think the words.
Yes, indeed, I thought about the piece of wood and a plank and how it might feel to hang at rope, seeing one’s reflection on the water’s surface, not knowing what might happen next.
I didn’t think of leprechauns, though. Perhaps because they don’t live here.

Nice picture.

Thank you.
