Interesting that you mention this … not that I realized the difference before. I just discussed it with the boyfriend, his idea is that on the right slope the morning sun has already melted the snow. Seems plausible. On the left slope there is snow but because of the huge trees not really visible.
Thank you.
So your photo must have been taken looking north? But the sun didn’t melt the snow further along up this valley. It isn’t just altitude difference because there is snow well below you along the valley on the right side. Interesting. It is a beautiful photo. Is this Austria?
That certainly looks remote enough to make you wonder, but then, making the picture is good enough “why.”
Aiming your camera downhill is also a good remedy for fear of heights ;-)
I just feel small.
Me? Felt even smaller.
… avalanche country?
Definitely.
Breath taking snowy mountains, but no snow where you are standing? Great shot.

I created a map and emailed the link a second ago. It’s much more easy than trying to explain this at this time of day ;-).
And I should have said this before: it’s a 300mm photo.
At the top it looks like blowing snow is mixing with clouds. Wow!
