  1. He does look preoccupied.

I wonder what he does when he’s not sitting there, staring into space?

I keep thinking he might be a character out of a John LeCarre contemporary post-cold war espionage novel. Maybe a retired British spymaster who has moved to a quiet house in the country where his carefully disguised shady past can never find him. And then, suddenly, one afternoon, he gets an upsetting piece of news from one of his former spies. And just when he’d gotten back from a nice bicycle ride. So he sits, immobile, not really seeing the present….but living in the past.

Passers-by, glancing towards him, would never guess…..

    (and we shouldn’t tell, now)

  2. I thought more in the line of a retired boxer. Still on the verge.

I wish another could do this thing for me
His eyes are flooded, doubt he can even see
I hungered this title but now it don’t seem right
I fight back tears while I destroy his life

    1. I like your boxer.

      Fighting back tears.

      With no place to hide.

Lines around his eyes making him look older.
Scar tissue on his hands and fists.

And thinking, as in the song, of the one person who’s eyes he can’t avoid….the mother of his ‘enemy’.

You may have to put down the camera and take up the pen one of these days, Martina…. :-)
