“I closed my eyes” – The Big Cat by Louise Erdrich
Nothing like a photo creating a sense of vertigo, and a mystery of the body on the ledge. No wonder someone closed their eyes.
This is my boyfriend’s brother – he managed to stand on the beam when I took the photo so only his shadow is visible. Nice effect I thought.
A great image. And a beautiful photograph….
Sylvia Plath wrote –
“I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.”
Makes me wonder what it would be like to be up on top of….the stairs here, or wherever they are. Which have an almost M.C. Escher-surreal quality to them – they seem to be going up….into the middle of nowhere. And to suddenly find yourself there as your eyes opened —
I might have to close them again.
And yes, you are absolutely right about these steps going up to nowhere. it’s a look-out (?) sponsored bei Frankfurt Airport to the people of the surrounding villages who suffer much from the noise of the arriving planes.
It’s ugly, standing in the middle of nothing and yes, you can look out for .. what?
