  1. Actually, it looks more to me like the silhouette of one of the many animal protagonists of ‘Wind in the Willows’….but which one? Mole? Mr. Badger? Beaver? Ratty? Or….(my choice)….Toad?

    Mr. Toad makes the most sense since, like Charles Duhigg, he was also interested in how the brain works….or worked. Toad’s famous words come to mind –

    ‘Smart piece of work that!’ he remarked to himself chuckling. ‘Brain against brute force—and brain came out on the top—as it’s bound to do…”

    But looking at your photograph, things get more complex. How does the brain store events? And for animals, who supposedly operate on instinct more than rational analysis, how do these stored events come back, and influence or alter behavior.

    And is the act of taking a photograph instinctive – when the finger presses down on the shutter release – or are we too exploring….something stored….in our brains?
