This car seems to be the to-go rental car for weddings in France. I took photos of another one (or the same?) at another wedding at another day at another church with my phone. I put it on the scrap press for you to see.
One might say this is the first modern car. It was build with a unibody rather than a sub-frame. It has independent suspension that accounts for its sharp handling, and of course it is front wheel drive. Citroen build over 700,000 of these between 1936-1956. A few are still available at reasonable prices because collectors have not been attracted to them for some reason. Over the years the motors increased in size and power.
Thank you for the excellent photo of this Citroen Traction Avant. For its day this was a fast, fine handling sedan, and it still looks great today.

It’s a beautiful car, indeed.

Does that actually mean “front wheel drive”?
Yes.
