:-) – it’s not easy right now to combine the Paris photos with a Zadie Smith short story. I would prefer a more happy smiling funny story/novel .. but alas.
This pig should really try to slip out – that’s the sign of an Alsatian restaurant, and if the pig doesn’t hurry it might end up as part of choucroute.
When I was young a very popular TV series ran on German TV:, Michel aus Lönneberga. One episode that impressed me very much was when Michel fed fermented cherries to the farm animals. The pig ate most (of course) and was totally drunk afterwards. All the chickens fainted when pig came visiting the coop, running around happily, full of cherry wine.
I love the idea of drunk happy chickens. We have mockingbirds by the score down here. The are a pretty pushy bird normally, always fighting off crows and rival suitors. When the palm berries fall and ferment it is hilarious to watch a pair of drunk mockingbirds trying to fight. They can barely fly and usually execute numerous ground loops trying to get at each other.
Since there are no Mockinbirds around here the German translation of the novel’s title is: To Disrupt the Nightingale (kind of … not easy to translate.)
Nice sign, image and quote. I think she would have a hard time slipping out un-noticed. Made me smile today!

Fine humor in the photo and quote. Hard for a pig to go unnoticed in a Paris bistro.
Thank you very much. Yep, see above. Doesn’t it look like it had a little bit too much of wine already?
Don’t you just hate it when a pig over indulges? But then it is hard to put too much wine in a marinade.
