    1. :-) – I always try to find a balance with my blog. Not too much funny stuff. Not too much nice stuff. Not too much not so nice stuff. Yesterday my mood was peaceful – I am very happy you like this.

  1. After the shock of the donkey I wasn’t quite sure what a post with today’s title would turn up … and now I’ve seen the photo I’m a bit mystified … it seems like an every day shot to me.

    1. See my reply to Robert about balance ;-) – there has to be something different after the donkey (mule?) ;-)
However, olive trees are a rare sight to me and the rest of us Middle Europeans since they are not frost-resisting. So we only see them on our vacations in the South.

      1. I thought it might be that olive trees were not ordinary in your part of the world. They are more and more of them growing in Australia.

        1. So I imagine one day I will not only be able to buy Australian wine in the supermarket nearby but Australian olives, too.
I like olive trees very much. Olives, too. Olive oil, too. :-)

          1. Maybe … I don’t think we are exporting them much yet … just saving on imports.

I came back to mention that I think olive trees are Ok with frost (the ones growing around here are certainly in frost prone areas) what I think you are probably missing in Germany is hot dry summers.

          2. I should have said heavy frosts. In 1956 2.5 Million olive trees died of a heavy frost period in France. They need 15 – 20 °C average annual temperature and 500 – 700 mm annual precipitation (with 200 mm the minimum for living).. I would guess they can quite endure a short period of frost up to -10 °C but not the week long periods with perhaps -5 °C that we have.
Our average annual temperature is 9.7 °C – brrr.

  2. Just a lovely shot. Made more interesting by the trees on the right. Of course it is an everyday shot to me……….now that I’m In Provence. In eight days it will be less than everyday…..it’ll be nostalgia. Nicely rendered..

    1. Thank you. The shot is really out-of-the-box – nothing done to it besides the re-sizing. 24mm – not really my thing … but sometimes it works with a little drama in the sky and the landscape ;-).
Olive trees should survive in Florida, yes? You don’t have frost over there, don’t you?
      Enjoy your last days!!!!
