Okay, you had your chance.
Tell me what you think it means.
I might not have noticed.
I guess it’s true what they say, that no person is an island.

Much of this makes us happy.

That’s just how it goes.
Time keeps coming, whether we like it or not.
It’s not that simple, obviously.
So yes, the adult brain can change.
Freedom and independence, yay!
A grown-up approach to happiness.
Maybe you should learn some self-control?
We all mature in our own way and at different rates.
I’m staying in to read a book!
I’m afraid there’s no easy answer here.
There are many ways in which we can be made happy.
Funny how things turn out.
It takes your system a while to return to normal.
And once again, this got me to thinking.
Problem is, the world isn’t fair.
We only have limited information to go on.
It was about to say something if she only watched hard enough.
It was so beautiful, it wanted to speak to her.
Night came, day came, night came.
Fine, he said. Ain’t going to chase you all day.
Bet you’re hungry.

Come on out, he shouted.
Be quiet, the whisper said.
There could’ve been snakes there.
I miss the dog.
It was twilight when they got back.
They won’t bother us if we’re together.
The morning was painfully clear.
Or maybe there was nothing.
You always had to guess.
Stay here, be good.
The wind spoke through the cracks in the window frames.
But most days she stared out the window all sad.
The storm came and erased the quiet.
We’re having an adventure.
Are we escaping?
Don’t be silly.
I thought he was going to eat me.
Then he closed the window and disappeared.
It took her a moment or two to understand.
