Gone Fishing
It wasn’t her nature to be sulky
That was as far ahead as he liked to think
She would live now, not read
I barely remember that life
Here was the house
You really hurt my feelings!
I’ve been away a long time
You don’t need to be here
Does anybody tell the truth around here?
You guys continue to amaze
There was a long admiring pause
Inside, some people were talking
What a ridiculous statement
Now this was starting to seem like the old days
My house is your house
There ain’t many of that kind of place
But there was just him, and the blackness, and silence
Mumbling quietly to himself, he slowly raised his hand
So many people stayed in bed on cloudy days
This was where they sighted the bear
He’d been lucky to survive their attack and now they wanted revenge
The lost years had not proven all bad, though
You start down that path, where does it end?
He had to move soon or he’d be forced to turn back
How about a drink at six, then some dinner?
Even catalog clothing fit him well, a girlfriend had once commented
I shouldn’t be suprised to find you here
Are you two going to sit here all night?
I’m just beginning to get control of my own body
You belong here or you wouldn’t be here
When I first saw it, I thought it was horrible
All right. We’ll find a photographer
After that I need a drink
The more it changes, the more it is the same
Come, folks. We’ll sneak out ahead of the crowd
I’m rather green about these things
I expect to spend years trying to understand it
The rest is personal, private, of no possible int’rest
I’m sorry to have wasted your time
But a dream is a true experience of a sort
It has to be typed before it can be photographed
Nobody imposes on me against my will, so relax
That could get keep him in power a long time
Ever read H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds?
They’d been lost in these woods before
We’re taking some time to enjoy our lives, right?
The sun was setting in earnest
A low mood was creeping up on him
Let’s go buy you a hat
