I believed the world was mine, all I had to do was reach out and take it.
He wasn’t ready to go in yet.
He wanted to get some more air and look around a bit.
That was how it started. As simply and as easily as that.
The shiny, polished dance floor looked enormous.
That’s all a sunset was: an exultation of dirt and dust.
Some of the clouds were beginning to be stained by the sinking sun.
Birds sing. Fish swim. Time passes.
There was a loud clicking sound.
We’re sailing you across the sea to a desert isle.
It’s a hazard of isolation.
There’s a lot of air around here, if that’s what you want.
I spent the afternoon musing on Life.
I’m just trying to get to know you.
Nothing makes any sense. Things just happen, that’s all.
The lids are just now beginning to rattle.
Black clouds spill upwards against the pale sky.
The storm arrives at half-past noon.
But the world will ask us questions.
I can’t remember.
Much easier to forget.
These are the days we live in, though.
Then everything slows down.
To my own surprise I was in no hurry to leave.
He should not have come out on to the dancing-floor.
He paid no attention to the stream of humanity that flowed past him.
The landscape wasn’t all that interesting, anyhow.
“I’m free”, he said aloud again, just to hear it.
He didn’t know how to think anymore.
It’s sad. It’s a sad story.
The air was cold and heavy with moisture.
I’m not sure if that makes any sense.
