Okay, it isn’t just that it’s a fine image – but now I have an irrational desire to read Shirley Jackson. Again.
I like the image, too. It suggests many things –
Right now to me it’s saying that someone was here – briefly – perhaps in a hurry – leaving behind their cup because life intervened and suddenly yanked them away from a quiet contemplative moment to deal with some crisis where cups and sips weren’t tolerated.
