Something is happening. And I believe it has been happening for some time.
He should have gone home a long time ago.
It’s a new world.
I’m glad you’re here.
And what would we get in return?
We just don’t know what we’re doing it for any more.
We been doing it so long, we don’t know any better.
We’ve known each other too long.
Maybe I’ve been doing this too long.
One minute he wasn’t here, the next he was.
Any idea how long he’s been here?
Nobody noticed anything out of the ordinary about him.
Sometimes I have to think hard to remember how they were.
Things are no longer the way they were, it is true.
He stood there for nearly an hour before going to bed.
It seems I have no choice.
Gone fishin’
It was the work of a master craftsman, but it seemed unlikely to be a miracle.
Let us show you what you have come all this way to see.
I have no idea why anyone would want to build a town here.
I don’t need a miracle.
He seemed entirely at peace.
Why let anyone else in on the secret?
What are they doing in there? Are repairs still going on? Have they given it up? Are they all dead?
Why are you so angry all the time?
The aliens have never made a hostile move against us.
Who the hell are you?
They kept themselves to themselves, in little ghettoes.
These are the days we live in, though.
They speak a language all their own, intelligible only to others of their species.
A fair fight. Fine.
He thinks about that for a long time.
Night begins to fall beneath the trees.
There’s a tree out there. I saw it yesterday.
The World laughed and sang around him, invisible and glorious.
Every step crisp and precise.
What are you going to do?
He stands thinking for a long time.
I want to show you something.
They’re probably all completely insane by now.
Everything is just where it should be, suddenly in focus.
Then everything slows down.
Gone fishin’
I have no idea who he was.
Now everybody knows who you really are.
Some questions were answered quickly.
It’s a shadow life and after a while it gets to you.
It’s a question of what love gives you the right to do.
He looked like he hadn’t slept at all.
Like someone dancing for a rain that will not fall.
