All this perfectness made me think the car was a fake. Not that I really think it was. But it was … really really perfect. Not a spot. Not even a dead fly on the windshield.
Custom car builders can do amazing work, and this may be an example. Note that the dashboard has both speedometer and tachometer. Tachometers were not put into production cars until the mid-1960s and later, so this dash is not the same era as the car, mid-1930s. Still beautiful work to make it look old. The original car may well be from the 1930s, but I’ll bet it is all modern under the hood.
Ah, and it’s interesting what you say about tachometers. I didn’t know that.
Another interesting point is, that in German, what you (and the rest of the English speaking world I assume ;-)) call speedometer is called “Tachometer” in German.
What in English is tachometer in German is “Drehzahlmesser” – rpm gauge or revolution counter.
Much more to say about this … but not tonight ;-)
What a lovely series of picture/quotes. This one in particular feels like it was taken when the car was current and new.
Thank you very much :-)

So my feeling that something isn’t “right” about the car wasn’t that far fetched? Like I said above – not really old – pseudo vintage?
