They would be home before night fell
The weather grew cold and there was snow
They had left nothing to chance
No one ever talked about it
Some of them danced with girls from the town
But nothing happened except that ordinary life came back
Everyone was waiting for something to happen
No one was sure who would come back
I don’t go out much
She nodded but said nothing
Each new decade burying the previous one
New experiences take the place of old ones
Now I must ask you to leave
You probably think you had a hard time
I’ve been waiting ever since!
Still full of memories
I think you’ll regret it
I know I should say I wish you well
I’m thinking of leaving
I now belong to an incredibly exclusive club
Watching the world go by
Would you like to come swimming with me?
Didn’t it change everything?
I feel like a new person
It’s all a lot of nonsense
It is not the right sort of surprise, somehow
Our minds tend toward the prosaic
It’s a surprise, to us all
Nobody could have expected it, or be expecting it
Come in and look
This is who I think it is, isn’t it?
You’ve been holding something back, haven’t you?
Will you stop talking about my damned legs
You’ve had a dream
You might envision a better life for yourself
The first means in flower, the second radiating light
Such undertakings are almost always futile
At all events, they are quite different substances
Bottlenecks, even figurative ones, don’t grow
All planning must be done in advance

Their eyes were in protruding knobs at either side of their heads
That right there happening was a haiku!
He was an insanely talented programmer
A reclusive mastermind with a thin, strangely flexible head
Those were the best times in my life
